How To Wear Contact Lenses

Do you need a corrective measure or just want to try something new? Did you know you can wear contact lenses to change your appearance? If you do not already have a prescription or a new to contact lenses, it is important that you get one before starting the process of getting the lenses especially if you are looking to correct your vision.

But if you are looking to change your looks by changing the colour of your eyes, we’re just the place you’re looking for.

Daily vs Monthly

If you’re just starting out, then daily lenses may be perfect as they are not only the easiest to use but you will get used to putting them in and taking them out each day and you can simply start a new pack if you need to without the need to use any saline solutions for contact lenses.

A monthly lens on the other hand is a great option for those who want the benefits of wearing contact lenses but may not necessarily want to open a new pack on a daily basis. Monthly lenses are great for those who have a lifestyle that allows them to store overnight in a solution for use the following day.

Each option does have its pros and cons, so thinking about your lifestyle would be a great start.

How to wear your contact lenses

Now it’s time to get creative! Read through to know more about how to wear contact lenses.

The first step in putting on your contact lenses is all about getting the moves down. Follow these four easy steps and you’ll be ready with your new look:

How to wear contact lenses - Wash your hands

Make yourself comfortable where you can see (in a well-lit environment). Wash your hands thoroughly and dry them with a lint-free towel

How to wear contact lenses - Hold the lens on your index finger

Remove the protective cover of each lens slowly and pick up the first contact lens and place it on the index finger of your right hand (we will start with applying the lens on your right eye first)

How to wear contact lenses - Place the lens on your cornea

Using the middle and ring finger of your left hand, gently lift the top lashes to open the upper eyelid. At the same time, using the middle finger of your right hand to gently pull down the lower eyelid and place the contact lens over your iris (this is the coloured part of the eye). Some people will find this tricky especially on the first few attempts, try looking to the side and place the contact lens onto the sclera (this is the white part of the eye)

How to wear contact lenses - Blink a few times to let the lens set in place.

Help the contact lens to find its place by blinking gently and looking up and down. This will feel strange at first, but once it feels comfortable, repeat the steps for the other eye.

One-method-fits-all does not apply when it comes to putting in contact lenses as we are all different. Some people may feel unsure about putting in contact lenses, but this will fade away after a few times. Try out different methods to find what works best for you. Asking friends and family members, or even your optician for their ideas is also useful. If your eyes are still sensitive after trying another method, it might be time to take a break before retrying or give your eyes a longer break before trying again.
